Lidge, Halladay added as Instructors, Schmidt is sick

Today the Phillies announced that former players: Roy Halladay and Brad Lidge will be joining the Phillies a special instructors this year in spring training for the first time. Also joining them will be Dave Hollins, Gary Matthews Junior and Larry Andersen. However the most shocking news of the day is the Phillies announced that Mike Schmidt will not be a special instructor during spring training due to a health issue you can read their statement below.

"Mike is treating a health issue that requires him to remain near his doctors and will be unable to attend spring training as a field instructor this year. He plans to visit camp in the middle of March as part of his marketing relationship and continue his normal visits to Philly throughout the summer."

You wish Mike all the best during his treatment and hope he returns to Philadelphia soon. Hopefully these new instructors can teach some old dogs new tricks.
