Hot Stove Update

            #PP 18 Brad Lincoln                                                    #PP 19 Wil Nieves

The Phillies have not been that busy so far this offseason but, in the past few days they have made some good moves to improve the team. They first acquired Brad Lincoln from the Blue Jays for home town turkey bacon lover Erik Kratz and prospect Rob Rasmussen. Rasmussen has been involved in four trades in the past two years. Lincoln is a young pitcher who excelled in Pittsburgh in 2012. However when he was traded to Toronto in 2012 he could not find his groove for the past two seasons.. Hopefully this young talented reliever can put his time in Toronto behind him. This trade opened the door for the Phillies to sign 36 year old catcher Wil Nieves. Nieves hit .301 in 2012 and .298 in 2013. This gives the Phils an upgrade over Erik Kratz, who hit .248 in 2012 and .213 in 2013. Hometown guy or not, that performance does not help the team win games. Lincoln and Nieves should play key roles with the Phillies in 2014.
