Around the League: Wednesday's action

Some story lines from Wednesday's games
-Miguel Cabrera continued his torrid start to the season by hitting a home run and adding 3 RBI's in the Tigers 11-7 victory over the Indians. Cabrera's 3 RBI's give him a league leading 52. Justin Verlander got the win although he did not pitch his best.
-Clay Bucholz improved to 7-0 pitching 7 strong innings as Boston won the battle of the Sox 6-2. Chicago was going for the sweep but Bucholz had other ideas as he helped the Red Sox win in Chicago.
-30 year old Ross Wolf pitched in his first major league start on Wednesday and helped the Rangers avoid a sweep by defeating the A's 3-1. Wolf pitched 5 innings and recorded his first major league win.
-Chris Davis and the Orioles win the rubber match of a 3 game set with the Yankees 6-3. Davis went 4-4 and added a home run as the Orioles win the series. Yankees starter Hiroki Kuroda left in the 3rd inning after taking a line drive off the leg. He is considered day to day and his next start is in question.
-Joey Votto continued his hot streak going 2-3 with a home run and 2 RBI's in the Reds 7-4 win over the Mets. The Reds took the lead in the 9th and Aroldis Chapman recorded the save.
-Ian Desmond drove in the go ahead run in the top of the 10th and the Nationals beat the Giants 2-1 to avoid a sweep. Gio Gonzalez and Madison Bumgarner both pitched well in this pitchers duel.
-Jordan Lyles out pitched James Shields and the Astros took 2 out of 3 from the Royals with a 3-1 win. The lowly Astros beat Jeremy Guthrie on Monday and Shields on Wednesday to surprise the Royals and win the series.
-Francisco Liriano threw 7 shutout innings and struck out 9 as the Pirates edged the Cubs 1-0. Liriano is now 3-0 in 3 starts for Pittsburgh.
